Sneak Peek - Happy Trails

My new favorite challenge Blog is Stuck On U Sketches. The latest challenge is this page map...
...and this is my version: I really struggled with the best way to make the heart shape. I ended up using vellum, which I heat embossed with a leafy branch pattern that matches one of the background papers.

The title was cut with the Cricut Stone Script cartridge.

.
In the lower right corner, the page map shows text. I turned a Jenni Bowlin mini calendar card into a journaling block. I traced it and adhered the matching shape only to the top edge. I scored it along the top of the calendar design and creased it so it would be easy to lift the flap.

The buttons on the Prima flowers are from my stash - which came from my mother's and my grandmother's button boxes, so they are very special to me. I have quite a nice collection because they used to cut the buttons off of clothes before they went into the "rag bag"...nothing was wasted.

Last little thing to see is the dimension I always have to add to my projects. Pop dots are my best friends!

This layout used the Scrapbooks Plus Design Team kit for December featuring the WinterSong papers from SEI. Even though this is the perfect kit for winter and snow layouts, it turns out it was also the perfect kit for my pictures from an October walk through the woods!

Turtle Rescue Rangers

We found this little guy crossing the road when we were on our way to church. We couldn't tell which way he was headed, so we scooped him up and released him in our garden. Brian said we were the Turtle Rescue Rangers! We love to rescue turtles... I did this layout for the DT at Scrapbooks Plus. I really like journaling on the dymo strips! I thought the Cuttlebug "Traffic Jam" embossing folder looked a lot like the pattern on his shell, so I used it on a piece of the whitewash Co'ordinations and matted a picture with it. I did the photo collage in Photoshop.

Sharon and Mom

Loved this picture and wanted to feature it on a page all by itself. The border is the same one I used on the 2 page layout from the wedding.

forever begins today

I am finally getting around to scrapping pics from Sharon & Rick's wedding - December 1999.
I used paper from SEI - Moravia line - metallic papers make everything so elegant!
I'll never forget...Pat helping with the ceremony. The "Mary Queen of Scots" Dress. The exploding bouquet. The freshly fallen snow through the window at the Chapel at Red Rocks. Remembering Carolyn.

the FALL guy

Another layout with my annual pics from Cox Farms. This was 2008. Brian's first year of working there. Somewhere I had seen a page where they mounted the pic on the back and then cut through the cardstock and rolled back the edges...and I gave it a try here. I think it turned out well, especially because the MME paper was double sided. I used the Fiskars ScrapBoss to dry emboss the leaves on the metallic paper strip. Don't you just love the little pumpkin charm on the ribbon? The title was cut with my Cricut (Jasmine cart) and with my Sizzix Sidekick - "FALL" is actually cut out of metal!
