Bling it up!

I had a great weekend full of scrapping, shopping and friends.  The Great American Scrapbook Convention was in Chantilly, VA and I enjoyed every minute.  One of my favorite stops was the Want2Scrap booth.  I spent some time chatting with Michele Parrish, the owner, and I have to say I think I have found a new friend!

The Want2Scrap booth was loaded with exactly what I was looking for:  Inspiration!

I had been working on my daughter's Confirmation layout, using products from Moxxie's Faith line.  I had gotten to this point and was happy, but not thrilled.  I definitely needed to add something...
While browsing through Michele's booth I found this lovely long pearl flourish and I immediately knew exactly where it belonged!

I laid it across the bottom of my layout, behind the Spellbinders die cut cross.  Perfect!
You can see I also changed out the blue flower on the cross for a large pearl brad.

Next I added a larger flourish on the left side of the layout, tucking it under one of Moxxie's Cardstock Punchouts.

I actually trimmed off the bottom of that flourish and placed it on the right side of the layout, again peeking out from underneath a cardstock embellishment.

Here's the finished layout:.

The pearl flourishes from Want2Scrap were the perfect finishing touch!

I do have one more thing to share. Come back next week and see how I made this lovely hidden tag!

Gone Camping!

My sons spent several years with the Boy Scouts of America and one of the high points of the year was the annual trip to summer camp.  On this particular trip, my son Paul found the most amazing fungus growing on the side of a tree close to the campsite.  As soon as I saw the reveal for Moxxie’s new Happy Camper line, I knew it was going to be perfect for scrapping these pictures!
Here's a funny story -  I was thrilled to be chosen for the Moxxie Design Team and waited on pins and needles for the arrival of my box of goodies.  I had been getting daily updates from the other DT ladies as their boxes arrived.  On the day mine was expected, the doorbell rang and I opened the front door to find a young man standing there with a jacket embroidered with “Moxie”.  I was practically jumping up and down with excitement and started looking around for my box.  Then I realized how ridiculous that was because it was supposed to come via UPS.  I was very confused and actually started to listen to what he was saying. Apparently there is a pest control company with that name and he was going through our neighborhood looking for new business. I am sure he thought I was nuts!!!

If you would like the details on how I pulled this layout together, check the Moxxie Blog.

A Nation Remembers

I used Moxxie's Hometown Celebration line to create this layout to commemorate President Reagan's funeral procession. The caisson was escorted by members of each branch of the military and was immediately followed by a riderless horse, with the boots reversed in the stirrups.  You can read about that tradition here.
I love this paper line! I especially love the Celebration Cardstock Sticker sheet which comes with the great alpha stickers I used for the title - quick and stylin'!  There are several themed stickers, including the "stars & stripes" oval I used as the center of the pleated rosette.

Beach Bum

As soon as I saw the Beach Bum paper from Moxxie's At The Beach line, I knew exactly which pictures I was going to use!
I used a craft knife to fussy cut a slit for the primary picture to slip in behind the word "Beach".  I loved the way it turned out, but I realized I had a lot more pictures from that day, so I turned it into a 2-page layout:
The Double-sided Die Cuts made it easy to add frames and embellishments.  Below you can see how I pieced the background paper and traced & cut the the tags:

The tags are tied with baker's twine from the Twinery.  As I was finishing up I noticed some fingerprints on my pictures...
...so I pulled out ScraPerfect's Perfect Cleaning Cloth and wiped them away!
