A Sweet Layout with Moxxie

One of Mary Claire's favorite Brownie activities was always the Annual Father/Daughter Dance.  I dug this picture out the other day and immediately reached for the XOXO Collection from Moxxie.   The dance was always held in February and the tattoo-like art work in the upper corner features a heart.  Perfect!
I really liked the details of this paper so I used my kraft knife to fussy cut around the design, lifting it so that it overlapped the photo.  Next I  added swirly black bling from Want2Scrap, echoing the black flourishes on the paper.  I love, love, love the bling!  I was very generously gifted a selection by Michele Parrish at GASC in  June and it is just wonderful!

The XO Rub-ons give you a choice of sentiments and  I chose "sweet" to place on the banner.

Mary Claire's head band reminded me of a stamp I have by Dyan Reaveley which I thought was the perfect sentiment for my spunky daughter!

I stamped it on a sheet of the Kisses paper, trimmed it out and arranged the strips to the right of the photo.  You can see the rose stickers underneath were popped up and embellished with some more Want2Scrap bling!

I decided to mimic the strip journaling style for the rest of the text on the page.   I found a similar font and  printed directly on the paper with my ink jet printer and then used a black pen to draw in the boxes.
Finally, I added a few pieces of washi tape for fun and Voila!  A sweet memory for my husband & daughter!

Looks Like New with the Best Cleaner Ever!

My cutting mat is always sitting on my work table because I use it all the time.  The other day I noticed how grungy I had let it become.  Ick!  See what I mean?
There were smears of ink and bits of tape and adhesive all over it!  Time for a good cleaning!
No worries!  I just spritzed my mat with The Best Cleaner Ever from ScraPerfect and let it sit for a minute.
It worked like a charm!  When I wiped it off, it looked like a brand new mat!
This is the newest product developed by ScraPerfect and I love this stuff because it is:
  • Safe for hands, tools, brushes, clear stamp; rubber stamps, fabrics, stamp; more
  • Removes solvent ink from stamps, permanent marker from acetate, adhesive build-up on scissors, the Best Glue Ever from fabric, and more
  • Contains 99.9% active ingredients. No water, alcohol, or abrasives
  • Apply from the pink spray bottle; rinse off easily with plain water
  • Non-Toxic
  • Non-Hazardous
  • Biodegradable
  • No Harmful Fumes
I actually have a couple more mats that need attention now. Oh!  And some scissors!
What do you need to clean?

Get ready for Santa with Moxxie!

I am featured over on the  Moxxie Blog today using the very festive Party at the Pole collection!

One of our traditions every year is a visit with Santa. With that in mind, I created two layouts.  The first one is for a single 5"x7" photo.  The 2nd layout is actually just a modification of the first, altered to incorporate multiple photos.  With 3 kids you can bet that I am a multiple photo kind of girl!

I am all about simplifying around the holidays, so I hope one of my layouts will help save you some time and stress this Christmas!

Bookmark the Road to Recovery

I have a very dear friend who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  She suddenly found herself taking several different medications, each of which came with its own list of potential side effects.  She asked for a journal so that she could track her symptoms every day.  I added a simple, handmade item to cheer and encourage her:  a bookmark using Moxxie’s Road to Recovery collection.

Although I usually love to dress things up with layers and bling, I really wanted this to be something that would slip into place without catching edges and that my friend would find easy to use. This is not a work of art.  It is just a simple, heartfelt gift to remind my friend of her place in my heart.

You can find the details for this project on the Moxxie Blog today.

November Moxxie Muse-A-Palooza!

Are you ready for another fun Moxxie blog hop?  For November we are focusing on the Forever Family line.
This amazing color palette is perfect for family portraits, heritage photos, and even a pretty fall-themed layout! The front sides of the paper are title papers for each member of the family, and the back sides have a variety of both masculine and feminine patterns for you to use to accent your photos. Card makers and papercrafters the designs are small, so even on a cut down piece of paper, you are still going to get the colors and textures of the large design.

In addition to these great papers, the embellishments will help give your creations a family-type flair. Use them as titles, journaling spaces, accent pieces, and embellishment clusters to finish off your pages

The Moxxie Muses have put together some awesome ideas for this line and you could win the entire collection! All you have to do is hop through the blogs and comment on each one.  For an extra entry, comment on the Facebook page and "like" us if you have not already.  How simple is that?   Comments need to be made by Tuesday evening and the winner will be announced on Wednesday on the Moxxie Blog.  Our international customers and fans are free to play along if you are willing to pay the shipping if you are the winner of the prize.

Here is the layout I prepared for today's blog hop.  It is clean and simple and used  5"x7" school photos straight out of the package!
It came together very easily with only (2) pieces of paper and some coordinating die cuts and stickers.  I  have to smile every time I see this layout because of a little trick I played!

The sticker in the bottom right originally said,  "Sisters by Birth, Friends by Choice".  By choosing to hide the first line, I converted it to the perfect embellishment for my "boy" layout.

Below you can see (2) other layouts I have created using this versatile collection:
