Win a Moxxie Hockey Layout!

Hello Moxxie Fans!

I hope you have seen all the Sneak Peeks of the terrific new lines being released this month.  I am looking forward to playing with each & every one of them, but I have a little problem…
I have no hockey pictures!
My fellow Muses offered to send me pictures to use on my projects, but I came up with a fun idea that involves you! Do you have hockey pictures that need to be scrapbooked?  Well, I would like to design a hockey-themed layout for one of you!  That’s right!  You provide the pictures and I provide the rest!  I will take your photo and design a layout using Moxxie’s newly released Hockey Line.
That layout will be featured on my blog during the March Muse-A-Palooza and it will be posted in the Moxxie Facebook  Photo Gallery!  Afterwards, I will ship the layout to you at my cost.
So, how do you get in on this deal?
I wanted to make it as simple as possible, so we are going to run a quick little contest starting this Monday and running through Sunday, January 20, 2013. Just upload your hockey picture to the Moxxie Facebook page.  Whichever photo gets the most “likes” from visitors to the Moxxie Facebook page will be the winner!

Don’t delay!  See you on Facebook!

Spellbinders Sampler - The Pennant Block

Today I thought we could knock out another block from my Spellbinders Techniques & Materials Sampler.  If you have been following my blog, you already know that I like to play with canvas so it was a no-brainer to include a mini pennant!

Although I didn't actually use a die to cut corrugated cardboard for my sampler, I included it as a background in this next section to remind me of that option!

I did use Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennants to cut some canvas, which was already treated with gesso.  Before I removed it from the die, I gave it a quick spritz with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Ink Yellow Rose of that was a mouthful!

I also stamped and colored the butterfly image while it was still in the die.  I like the stencil effect which allows me to leave the edge white. To finish I simply attached the pennant to the corrugated cardboard with wire and eyelets!

Spellbinders Sampler - The Clock Block!

Another day, another chance to explore more of my SpellbindersTechniques & Materials Sampler! The background of this section was created by embossing another piece of Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil, a vibrant turquoise color, with the Regal M-Bossabilities folder.

If you look closely, you can see that the raised sections are silver - that is from sanding.
I then stamped the entire surface with Versamark and heat embossed UTEE.  There are at least 3 layers.  The UTEE filled in the debossed areas and looks like glass.  Trust me, it is gorgeous IRL!

I created the clock using a die set designed by Samantha Walker, Retro Mod Clocks. The base of the clock is just cardstock that has been cut, embossed and stenciled.
The clock face  is cut from Royal & Langnickels Engraving Art Board then embossed and sanded. I love using this stuff!  The sanding reveals the core, which in this case was silver. I actually wanted copper, but it is very popular around here and often not available.  No problem.  I just used my Caramel Alcohol Ink from Ranger to adjust the color!

Thanks for stopping by.  I will share more of the sampler in future posts!   Susie

Spellbinders Sampler Part 2!

As promised, here are a few more pieces from my Techniques & Materials Sampler.

The background of this section was created using Spellbinders Music M-Bossbilities and a piece of BoBunny Aquamarine Double Dot paper. Once it was embossed, I simply sanded the raised areas to reveal the white core within, then inked the edges.
The labels were cut and embossed using the Girlie Grunge Labels which were designed by Donna Salazar. I used modeling paste to give the letters dimension.

In the section below you can see I used (2) different M-Bossabilities.  On the left, I used the Garden Delight folder to emboss cardstock which I had already colored with Distress Stains. I actually inked the surface of the folder with Stazon Cactus before I embossed, a technique known as letter pressing.
On the right side I chose to use the Hearts M-Bossabilities folder to emboss a piece of purple Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil.  Next I sanded the raised surface revealing the silver color beneath, then ran the same Stazon Cactus ink pad over the surface. Love the color combination!

I often use Spellbinders Labels One to create frames, like the one in the picture above.  I like to tape my dies together with some low tack tape to keep them centered.  I found this Nexcare tape in the pharmacy section of Target and I really like it because it never tears my paper when I remove it.
I run the dies through the machine to cut and emboss the card stock. Voila!  The frame is done and ready to ink or distress as you desire!  It is really easy and works with all of the Nestabilities. Bonus:  Look at the lovely negative space and the little center piece of "waste"!

Thanks for stopping by.  I will share more of the sampler in future posts!

The month of January is very special to me because that is when my husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary.  This month, I will have been married 22 years to "the man of my dreams" least that is what he keeps telling me! I found the colors and patterns in the Musically Inclined collection to be very romantic and I was inspired to create this layout with my wedding pictures:

I created my own patterned paper using a Kaisercraft stamp, Tea Dye Distress Ink, and the reverse side of the Piano paper:
I added a little visual interest to my photos with an easy technique using Spellbinders Classic Square Dies.  I simply embossed the photos, sanded the raised areas along the edge, and then inked the edges:

After the photos were down, I added some layers with the Diecuts, popping up the "Perfect Harmony" diecut over the wavy-edged border. I also added a strip of Le Creme Pearls fromWant2Scrap along the top edge.
The finishing touch?  I covered the chipboard word "Adore" (also from Want2Scrap) with Martha Stewart Brownstone glitter:

Ready to hop and be inspired by the rest of the Moxxie Muses?  Remember to leave your comments along the way for your chance to win the Musically Inspired collection!
