Whoo's the Cutest? with Paper House Productions

I was very excited when I saw the Owl's Hoot! collection from Paper House Productions because I knew exactly which pictures I would be scrapping!

Every summer I haul my family down to visit my mother in Florida.  My daughter has a special relationship with her older cousin who always plans a fun activity for just the two of them!  This outing involved hair styles, make-up, manicures and a silly photo shoot - I think they are both adorable!

Here are a few details pictures for you:
I love it when a page has a built in title!
The new You're A Hoot! 3D stickers have plenty of glitter and texture.  I used them throughout the layout to add dimension - see the pair on the branch above?  And the fuzzy blooms below?

There were a couple of places where I used my craft knife to lift leaves from the paper so I could slip photos underneath (see above and below).

There is nothing wrong with embellishing an embellishment!  You can see I found a few places that needed some bling from Want2Scrap!

It was really fun working with this collection!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Share My Joys Anniversary Card with Quick Quotes

Today I am sharing a card I created using the *new* Serendipity collection and a vellum sentiment from Quick Quotes.

I wanted to make something special for my husband and this said exactly what I wanted to say:  "Whenever I need someone to share my joys, or someone to hold my hand when my world falls to pieces you're there.  And I know you will always be...tomorrow and forever..."

I do not create cards very often, but when I do I like square cards - maybe they remind me of scrapbook pages!  Anyway, I love the mix of the floral pattern and swirls on this paper and cut a 5.75" square for the background of the card. The cardstock for this was cut 12"x6" then folded in half to create the base.

I fussy cut one of the flowers and some of the leaves from the same paper.  You can see I popped it up with foam adhesive then added a Blue Steel pearl to the center of each of these blooms.

The smaller flower was cut from a sheet of Calypso and I tucked in a couple more leaves.

The sentiment was die cut and embossed and I used Blue Jeans Powder Puff Chalking Ink to create a soft frame before highlighting the edges with teardrop pearls.

Here is a little video to show you how easy it is to create this look using Spellbinders dies:

Scrapping Our Stash April Blog Hop with Practical Scrappers!

Hello! Hello!  I am having a little fun today!  I was invited to play along with Practical Scrappers for this month's Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop.

We have 20 talented ladies participating today and if you get lost, you can find the list back at Practical Scrappers. You should be arriving here from Nicole Laha's blog.

Soooo...here is my project - a layout featuring Kaisercraft's Elegance.  I love this picture of my brother and his wife - they are so cute together!  It is only a  4"x 6" photo so I gave it a triple mat to give it more "weight".

I added bling from Want2Scrap.  You can see I started the Maxxi Girl Swirl in the top left...

...and finished it in the bottom right.

I also created the center of the flower from Want2Scrap bling.

I love Spellbinders dies and used Windows Three and Sentiments Shapeablities in this embellishment cluster.

The "potty people" are from Studio Calico and the chipboard embellishment, which was painted with DecoArt metallic paint, is from Want2Scrap.

I am doing a giveaway here today!
I will put together a nice selection of Want2Scrap bling for one lucky person!  In order to qualify you can do any/or all of the following:

  1. Become a follower here on my blog
  2. "Like" my facebook page
  3. Make sure to leave me a comment letting me know what you did!
I will leave the giveaway open until 11:59 est on Monday and plan to announce the winner on Tuesday!

Happy Easter Layout with Chalkboard Style

As soon as I saw this Easter Overlay from Want2Scrap I knew I wanted to add some of the chalkboard touches that are so popular these days.  It couldn't have been easier!

I used a ruler and a white pigment ink pen to draw a white frame around the entire overlay until I ran into…the Easter Bunny!  I sketched in facial features with a pencil before finishing things off with Marvy Uchida Bistro chalk markers.  Love them!

Spellbinders® Filigree Egg Shapeabilities® Die D-Lite was used to cut and emboss all of the beautiful eggs on this layout!  The background egg shape was cut from black cardstock to coordinate with the overlay.  The fancy foreground pieces were cut and embossed from brightly colored cardstock, then sanded to reveal the white core.

I embellished the built in title block with more die cuts from Spellbinders, Blooms Three and Foliage Two.

The center of each bloom holds a lovely pink pearl from Want2Scrap!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Kids Blog Hop with Paper House Productions

Thanks for hopping along with the Paper House Productions “Hop, Skip & Jump” Kids Blog Hop this weekend! We're so glad you're joining us, and hope you're inspired by all the amazing projects the Spring Design Team has been creating!
Paper House Productions has so many collections to choose from when it comes to scrapbooking your kids' activities!  Today I am sharing a layout about one of our favorite family activities -
Bowling!
I love the retro look of this paper - just enough of a pattern to create some visual interest but not enough to distract from the photos!

I trimmed about 1/4" from each edge and mounted the paper on white cardstock.  The photos are also matted in white and accented with cardstock stickers and a couple pieces of washi tape.  The cardstock stickers below were layered with dimensional foam adhesive.

Two things you are guaranteed to see at a bowling alley - funky shoes and wildly colored bowling balls! The perfect place for a title, right?
.

A Child's Garden with Want2Scrap and Susan K. Weckesser

Hello and welcome!!  Today I am sharing a flower-filled scrapbook layout using the bright and whimsical papers from the Live In Color collection designed by Susan K. Weckesser.
Not long ago, I thumbed through a copy of  A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson.  The title inspired me to scrap this spring school photo in a garden filled with flowers...and advice!  I used some of my favorite quote stamps and black Archival Ink.

The sentiments - stamped in crisp black ink - really pop off of the background created by the brightly colored blooms.

I highlighted the black dots on this large flower with black rhinestones from Want2Scrap.

The butterflies on the layout are also from Want2Scrap.  After I adhered them to the page, I painted inside the sections of the wings.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Serendipity and Love with Quick Quotes

Hello and welcome!  Today I am sharing a layout  featuring Quick Quotes *new* Serendipity collection.  I love the combination of blues, greens, and lavender that make up this line and decided to use it to scrap an engagement photo of my husband and me...so appropriate given the definition!

ser-en-dip-i-ty  noun the occurence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way

I started by die cutting and embossing hearts from each of the papers in the line. You have 8 patterns to choose from since the papers are double sided.  I varied the size and shape of the hearts and mixed in pieces from the Calypso Chipboard Die Cuts.
The die cuts were sanded to reveal the white core.  I added dimension with Steel Blue bling from Want2Scrap.

I die cut and embossed a vellum sentiment from Quick Quotes and layered it over white cardstock...
... which I had inked with PowderPuff Chalking Ink, using the Spellbinders Labels Four die as a stencil.
To create a frame for the sentiment I used Spellbinders Gold Labels Four dies to cut and emboss Serendipity 100 paper.  The paper has a white core, which is easily revealed with a little sanding.
For the finished piece I actually chose to use a different quote and added Want2Scrap Teardrop Bling accents.

If you are interested in seeing how I created the stenciled banner across the bottom of the page, I prepared a short video - enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!

Discover Beauty with Susan K. Weckesser

We are celebrating Spring on the Susan K. Weckesser blog this month and nothing says Spring to me more than flowers...specifically tulips!  They are my favorites!
I used a piece of Susan's whimsical paper as the base for this layout.  I love all the tiny pops of color you see from the background text!  Next I die cut and embossed a piece of green cardstock, sanding and inking the edge to reveal the details.  On top of that I created a collage of photos of some tulips I received as a gift last year.

The chipboard word "Discover" is from Want2Scrap and is completely bare.  It looks great with the kraft background.
To make sure it didn't blend in, I tucked a white vintage doily in behind it.

This sweet little tag came from another sheet of Susan K. Weckesser paper. It is the perfect place for alpha stickers to complete the title...and a little journaling to remind me who gave me such a lovely gift!

Beauty is where you find it....but you won't find it if you don't take the time to look!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

At the Beach with the Calypso Collection from Quick Quotes

Hello and welcome!  Today and I am so excited to share a layout using Quick Quotes' new Calypso collection! It just screams summer and beach to me!

I created this embellishment cluster in the center of the layout by combining a piece of the Chipboard Die Cuts with a couple of the sentiments I trimmed out of the CA500 paper.

I also trimmed out a couple of the mini banners from that sheet.  Below you can see the "Scatter Joy" banner.
I added the scalloped piece from the Chipboard Die Cuts under the main photo and then finished things off with a white pearl flourish and some hand stitching in orange thread!
