Baby It's Cold Outside!

Sometimes I cruise the internet for inspiration and lately I have seen a lot of layouts that started with a grid design.  Here is my take on that style:
I wanted the background to be light in color with no distracting patterns.  This paper is from the Paper House Handmade Paper Pad and the cable knit design adds just enough texture to make it interesting.
I created the grid with thin strips of black patterned washi tape from Little B, then accented with strips in red.  To give you a little perspective, the squares are approximately 3”x3” so you can see that the photos are pretty small!
I combined large snowflakes from the Winter Wonderland Diecut Sticker Pack with a variety of snow-themed Puffy Stickers.
I love the look of the white on white with bright pops of color!
I added winter themed words that I die cut from black card stock and sprinkled in self-adhesive rhinestone bling from Want2Scrap to embellish the Puffy Sticker snowflakes.
I cut mini mats out of coordinating paper to visually “lift” some of the pictures off of the background.
Every square in the grid has something, but the white details on white background really give this layout a fresh and uncluttered feel.
I created a snowstorm in this square with Mother of Pearl Bling from Want2Scrap.
I love the way this grid layout turned out!  The cute and colorful Snowman Puffy Stickers are perfect for this wintery, snow much fun layout!

A Very Merry Want2Scrap Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
I just wanted to share a quick Christmas layout I created for Want2Scrap featuring some of their wonderful products:  Fancy Chipboard Words and Bling!
The papers are from the Tidings Collection by Authentique Paper.  It is a really different kind of Christmas collection.  The papers have a kraft paper base that mixes well with the traditional reds and greens of the season.  What I really appreciate is that Authentique uses the same base colors every year.  What that means is that I can take this year's release and mix it with collections from years past!

I used one of the cute cut apart cards as a caption for the photo and then embellishedalong the bottom edge with a string of hearts ribbon.

I used self-adhesive red rhinestone bling from Want2Scrap to embellish my embellishment!  Next I covered one of the Fancy Chipboard Words with red glitter.
Here's a close up of a simple embellishment cluster above the photo.  It makes me giggle because it looks like the horns are coming out of his head!  (I guess he is a little naughty!)

Christmas Eve Nativity

Christmas Eve has always been a special night.  My mother-in-law was the one who filled it with family, fun and tradition.  The entire family gathered as she presided over a fabulous Christmas Eve dinner and whirlwind gift exchange that left the floor littered with piles of brightly colored paper!
The Christmas Wonderland Collection from Carta Bella had the perfect background paper for these pictures of my daughter playing with her grandmother's creche.  I used a couple of elements from the Wonderland Sticker Sheet to embellish this photo then added a horizontal line with strips of paper from the Collection.  Just off to the left of the photo I added a piece of Silver Rhinestone Bling  from Want2Scrap to accent a star on the background paper.
I printed all of my photos with a white border before matting them on black cardstock.  I used dimensional adhesive to "pop up" the Merry Christmas sticker on this pic.
I love this photo of my daughter with her grandmother!  As the sticker says, she always made Christmas "the Cheeriest of Seasons!"  We have so many great memories of her presiding over the festivities in her Santa Hat.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Handmade Christmas!

Handmade Christmas presents are the best because they are made with love!  Today I am sharing a layout using one of the newer releases from Paper House, the Handmade Paper Pad. If you knit, sew or crochet then this paper pad - and the coordinating sticker sheet - are a must have!

My daughter decided to make some of her Christmas gifts this year.  One of her best friends absolutely loves rainbows so she designed one just for her in the form of a skarf!

They got together to bake Christmas cookies and exchange gifts.  I added a Santa hat sticker from Christmas Costumes Puffy Stickers because although she was not actually wearing a hat when I snapped this shot, she did have one one earlier in the day!
I loved the colorful banners across the top of the paper!  I die cut letters and arrows in coordinating cardstock and then mixed them all together with Paper House stickers to make this fun title area!

Most of the stickers came from the Handmade Cardstock Sticker sheet, but I also used the Birthday Presents Puffy Sticker pack to add a gift box in a couple of spots!

I used a piece of the border sticker across the bottom of the layout and finished things off with Turquoise 8mm Enamel Dots from Want2Scrap!
I had a lot of fun playing with the Handmade Paper Pad and Sticker Sheet!  If you are looking for some fun and colorful background pages to scrap your yarn and needle art projects, then be sure to check out these fun products from Paper House!

Santa's Nice and Naughty List!

When my daughter was younger her Girl Scout troop had a fun and festive Christmas Tradition that we enjoyed every year!  Come December, moms and daughters got all dressed up in our holiday finery and attended the performance of an amazing, original Christmas musical!  I used the Christmas Wonderland Collection from Carta Bella to create this layout.
I started by using this wonderful Naughty & Nice paper for the background - it reminds me of a vintage ledger!  The collection offers a 6x6 Paper Pad and I chose (3) of those miniature patterns to create an oversized photo mat in the center of the page for my 5"x 5" photo.

I used the Christmas Phrases die set from Little B to cut the title from black cardstock.  The entire die set actually is a mix of font styles and contains a variety of seasonal expressions.   I like the vintage look of this particular font and thought it really fit the style of the paper.  I added just a little sparkle when I dotted the eye with a self-adhesive Black Rhinestone from Want2Scrap.
I trimmed out some of the journaling cards and played with them until I was happy with the arrangement.
I love washi tape and I used a few different strips on this layout.  I used the 3mm Black & White Houndstooth tape from Little B to create a border for the Words washi from Carta Bella.

Bling Out Your Mistletoe!

"Oh by gosh, by golly
It's time for mistletoe and holly!"
...and you can make your mistletoe sparkle with Red Rhinestone Baby Bling from Want2Scrap!   Checkout the details on this winter themed layout I created using the Christmas Wonderland Collection from Carta Bella.  It is such a pretty mix of vintage, wintery images with traditional red and green - and a surprising amount of blue!  I fell in love with the Nature Sing paper and chose that as the basis of my layout, trimming 1/8" on all sides then centering it on black cardstock.  I adore the image of the small deer peering at his reflection!
Next I chose 3 coordinating pages from the 6x6 paper pad, matted them with black cardstock, and arranged them on the left side of the page.  I also matted my photos with black and trimmed out a few of the nature themed journaling cards.  I played with the placement until I was happy and then started to embellish.  Here you can see I layered some mistletoe stickers on top of a chipboard flag:
This little blue bird was practically begging for a front row seat on my layout so I popped him on with dimensional tape!  (grin)  I often embellish my embellishments and in this case I added a LOT of sparkle by adding Red Rhinestone Baby Bling on top of some of the berries.
This photo of my daughter with an arm full of snowballs and a mischievous expression deserved a Naughty sticker!
Everybody uses hashtags these days so I was really tickled to find these cute little dimensional stickers from Little B.  (The set also includes #Love, #Life, #Laugh and #Selfie.)  I added a die cut arrow - and done!!

Time for a Selfie! with Paper House

Paper House asked the Design Team to create a project featuring some of their stickers.  The most difficult part of the assignment for me was deciding which ones to use!  There are so many different styles to choose from:  Die Cut, 3D, Puffy, Canvas, Cork'd, Chipoxy, and plain old Cardstock! I have been itching to do some more scrapbooking from our vacation this summer.  I took a look at the pictures from our Duck Boat ride in Seattle and my choice became obvious:  Time for a Selfie 3D Stickers!

I used papers from the Family Vacation Collection and mixed in some washi tape from my stash!
Doesn't it seem like absolutely everbody takes selfies these days?! Perfect sticker right here - and it shows off the bright colors, glitter accents and eye-catching icons that make these 3D stickers so adorable!
I love this camera from the sticker pack - the tiny heart and the glitter details just make me smile!  I also want to point out that I used a craft knife to cut along the edges of the arrows on this tag so that I could layer it over the photo.
This sticker pack has some cute arrows.  Take a look at the lime arrows at the top of this pic - I actually "unlayered" one of the 3D stickers and created 2 separate elements!  Also, be sure to check out the small circle sticker at the bottom - a polaroid icon with a shimmery heart in the center.  So cute!
The "Capture the Moment" sticker has glitter AND varnish elements for a lot of *WOW* factor!
Paper House has a huge selection of stickers to choose from - something for just about every theme or occasion.  Check them out for your next project!

November Leaves

As November leaves us I wanted to share one more fall layout.  I needed to scrap these great pics of my mom, sister and I enjoying the autumn leaves.  I used the Nestled Collection from Authentique Papers.  I love all the texture found in the patterned paper - wood grains and knits and plaids - and Want2Scrap had the perfect Chipboard and Bling accents!
November is a Fancy Chipboard Word from Want2Scrap.  It is really easy to alter the chipboard with inks, paint, glitter and embossing powder, which is what I chose for this project.  I heat embossed it with Earthtone Nutmeg Embossing Powder.
You can see I used multiple layers to create dimension - papers, tags, twine, stickers, bling and even a charm!
Want2Scrap 72 Count Bling comes in a pack with 3 different sizes - 3mm, 6mm and 8mm.  I used all 3 sizes of the Amber bling to jazz up this sentiment/quote card:

Be Grateful!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I am sharing a layout I created using the Nestled Collection from Authentique Paper.  I really loved the sentiment printed on one of the cut apart cards:
"It is not happy people who are thankful.  It is thankful people who are happy."

The collection has a great assortment of patterned papers that work together to create a really casual, comfortable feel. The colors were perfect for these pictures of my son in his blue jeans!  I had a lot of fun creating layers and dimension with papers, stickers and tags.

I added even more dimension with a Chipboard Fence from Want2Scrap.  To create an aged look, I dry-brushed the chipboard with gesso and then distressed it with inks.
Finally, I added a piece of the Swirls Finesse bling in the lower right, tucking it under the little pumpkin sticker!

My Little Seamstress

Today I am sharing a layout I created using some new sewing themed dies designed by Eileen Hull for Sizzix.  I love using dies to create custom embellishments for my layouts!  It is one way to make sure that my pages are just a little bit different!   I paired the die cuts with the Sew Lovely Collection from Carta Bella - perfect for My Little Seamstress!
I used the Flower and Leaf Stitchlits to create this little bouquet!  The Thinlits dies cut through paper, fabric, foam, leather, denim, canvas and felt!  I used multiple colors of felt for the flowers and leaves and used a green canvas for the stems.
If you take a close look you can see that two of the stems are pierced.  This die system allows you the option of cutting solid or pierced elements - stems, flowers or leaves - so that if you wanted to add a little stitching detail it is super easy!

For the background,  I tore a piece of paper off of a real sewing pattern I was done with and adhered it along the left side.  On top of that I layered a strip of washi that looks like a mearsuring tape and some pieces cut from the Border Strips page.  I sprinkled stickers from the Element Stickers sheet and more felt flowers around the layout.
My favorite element on the page has to be the die cut Embroidery Hoop!  I covered mat  board with wood grain paper before I cut it out.  In the center, I used the Handmade Label die to cut the words from green and pink cardstock.  I used the same die set to emboss cream cardstock then layered the letters on top.  Finally I hand colored the heart in the center and added pen stitching.
If you would like to see more samples of projects using these wonderful dies from Eileen Hull, check out this video:

Sweet Birthday Girl!

Time really does fly!  My baby girl celebrated her 18th birthday yesterday!  She has grown into a generous, intelligent, loving, SWEET young lady and I could not be prouder of her!  This picture is a favorite that I snapped at our annual trip to the local pumpkin patch.  It captures her spirit so well I felt it deserved its own layout!  I used the Nestled Collection from Authentique Papers, Prima flowers, and Want2Scrap Chipboard and Bling!

The photo is a standard 4x6 and I printed it with a white border.  I created a layered  background for the picture using doilies, paper and burlap.   I adhered the word "Sweet" directly onto the photo.  Although it is really easy to alter the Fancy Chipboard Words from Want2Scrap with inks, paints, glitter, and embossing powders I decided to just leave it "naked" for this layout!
You can see that I crumpled, distressed and inked the paper behind the photo.  I created an embellishment cluster using flowers, stickers and Swirls Finesse Le Creme Pearls from Want2Scrap then tucked a tag in the back for hidden journaling.
Just peeking out from behind the flowers you can see the Chipboard Embellishment that I altered using green ink:
The Swirls Finesse Le Creme Pearls come in a 2 pack so I always snip them apart and place them around the layout.  Here you can see more pearl bling peeking out from the bottom of the embellishment cluster.
