Adventure is Easy to Find!

My husband and I like travel and adventure and that is the theme of, and the inspiration for,  the tag I am sharing today!  This time I am using one of the Julie Nutting Mixed Media "boy" stamps by Prima, Aidan.

The starting point was actually this very cool Ship's Compass die from Cheery Lynn, which I cut in black cardstock.  The base of  the tag was cut  from a travel themed paper in the new Quick Quotes collection, Joy Ride.   I love the way they used all the different words and fonts to create a very cool background!  The sticker is from the Baggage Claim collection, also from Quick Quotes.

I pieced the clothing for "Aidan" with more paper from Quick Quotes.

I added a camera transparency from Maya Road and dressed up the compass by placing a clock face in the center and black rhinestone Baby Bling from Want2Scrap on the compass points.

The quote was stamped on a separate piece of paper that I then inked and distressed.  The word "Journey" is one of the Fancy Chipboard Words from Want2Scrap, which I painted black.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

High School Sweethearts

Valentine's Day is just a few weeks away and I was inspired to create a layout about my parents!  They were high school sweethearts and ended up happily married with 9 children!

I started with the Beloved Collection from Fancy Pants Designs and added lots of embellishments from my stash. Here are some close ups:
The card sized Chipboard Houses from Want2Scrap are so cute!  I put them in the upper right stting on top of some pieces from the Beloved Button Set and the Label stickers:
The blue and white Patterned Envelope is a great background for a Sweetheart Valentine Flash Card from Pretty Little Studio.
I used the Medium Rose die from Cheery Lynn Designs to create this pretty little accent.  The self adhesive pearl in the center is from Want2Scrap, as is the Mardi Gras Border rhinestone piece in the background.
I adore the Library Pockets from Fancy Pants!  This one actually came from the Oh Deer! Collection.  I used a die from Heartlfelt Creations to create a lacey red heart to tuck inside.  I added another Pretty Little Studio Flash Card and more from the Fancy Pants Beloved button set.
This paper came with a built in title area!
I dressed it up a bit with another custom die cut flower!

Paradise with Want2Scrap and Paper House

I am trying to escape the cold of winter by remembering a trip to a tropical paradise!
I love starting my layouts with an Overlay from Want2Scrap!  The overlay comes with a white background that can provide a frame for your photos.  I decided to remove it and instead back the layout with this beautiful tropical paper from Paper House!

Love the built in title that comes with the overlays!

I added a couple smaller photos and accented them with cardstock stickers from Paper House:

Check out this laser cut palm tree!
The detail is phenomenal and it is just the right size to accent this photo of my husband! I added a couple more island themed cardstock stickers - are you feeling the sunshine and hearing the waves yet?

Festive Birthday Tag with Die-Namites!

Today is the first day of the Die-Namites Dies Birthday Blog Hop!  All week long we are celebrating the release of 16 brand new Birthday themed dies and I used 2 of those dies to create this festive birthday tag!

Here are the *newly released* dies I used on this project:

I started by cutting a tag out of black cardstock.  I centered the Elegant Balloon die on the tag, cut it out and set it aside, saving all of the pieces to use later. I actually wanted to use the "negative space" left behind.

I cut the Elegant Balloon die out of light blue cardstock and inserted it into the negative space, filling in the holes with the pieces of black cardstock I had saved.  I accented the balloon with Iridescent Rhinestones from Want2Scrap.

I cut 2 of the Birthday Celebration dies out of metallic silver cardstock. I set the die cuts aside for later use,  retrieved the little silver stars and then sprinkled them around the tag like sequins!

I also used one of the stars to accent the dress of my paper doll, then I accented the star with another of the self-adhesive Iridescent Rhinestones!
I cut the Elegant Balloon die a second time out of the light blue cardstock.  I cut off the "balloon strings" and added a second layer of them to the tag. I only adhered them at the top so they would dangle.
I love the dimension!

I stamped a simple sentiment then adhered the black tag on top of a light blue tag.
A sheer ribbon at the top is the final touch.

One more look at the tag - and check out that fun dimension!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!

Now hop over to the Die-Namites blog today to see a fabulous project by fellow DT member Peggy Lee Baker.
She created a darling birthday party invitation!

Mother-Daughter Time with Timbergrove

Today I am sharing a snow themed layout featuring the Timbergrove Collection from Fancy Pants Designs.

My daughter and I are skiers, but we decided to give snowboarding a try and we signed up for a day of lessons.  The colors, patterns and coordinating embellishments in the Timbergrove Collection were perfect for this layout!

All of these pieces that came out of the 4x6 Brag Pad and I loved layering them!  The collection also has a great selection of alpha stickers and I used the dark brown ones to create a personalized title.

I added Silver Rhinestone Baby Bling from Want2Scrap to accent these tiny snowflakes!

I layered a couple of the Timbergrove Patterned Photo Frames before I topped them off with a piece of Flair.  Again, I accented some of the snowflakes with Silver Rhinestone Baby Bling.  I tucked away one of the Large Decorative Tags to hold some hidden journaling.

I love using dies to create personalized embellishments for my layouts.  The lacey white element is cut with the Mediterranian Lace Rectangle from Cheery Lynn.  I cut it from a nice bright white cardstock and then layered it on top of a dark paper to really show all the fabulous detail.
For the snowflake, I used one of the Create A Flake sets from Spellbinders.  I cut and embossed the layers and added details by inking through the die.  I heat embossed with holographic embossing powder and I love the glittery effect!

If you know me, you know I love tickets!  These little embellishments were the perfect finishing touch!

I am entering this layout in the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 167 - Snowflakes!

Wintery Ski Layout for Die-Namites

Today am sharing a wintery ski-themed layout I created for Die-Namites Dies.  My husband and I took a mid-week ski day last year and had a wonderful time!  It was a beautiful day and we practically had the slopes to ourselves.  We would ski from the top of the run straight onto the lift!  It was a magical day!

I was inspired by the Die-Namites January Sketch & Dare Challenge!  Here is the sketch designed by DT member Tonya:

These are the dies I used on my project:

The dare this month is to use the color pink, however, I decided to go with a different color scheme for my ski pictures and I just used the sketch for inspiration.  I had picked up the Cozy Collection from Authentique at the local scrapbook store and couldn't wait to use it!

You can see that I replaced the 3 roses from the sketch with die cut Winter Fir trees:
I used the Fancy Chipboard Word "Magical" from Want2Scrap for the sentiment.  Instead of using the one big banner indicated on the sketch, I used 3 small banners and shifted them off to the side. I found this trio of small banners on the Cozy Components Cardstock Accents. Perfect!

The sketch shows a doily centered under the cluster of roses. I tucked a Spring Doily die cut behind the pics in the upper right of the layout.  I used all of the elements from Tonya's sketch, I just rearranged them a bit!

To create a "frosty" feeling on the layout I covered the doily and the fir trees with Stardust Stickles and sprinkled rhinestones from Want2Scrap on the background snowflakes.

So how would you like to play along with our challenge?
Rememeber: This month's dare is to use something PINK!

Never to Old to Dream with Quick Quotes!

Lately I have become obsessed with tags.  I much prefer making them to cards and they serve the same purpose. Today I am sharing a tag I created using a mix of products from Quick Quotes!

I think this one would be great on a birthday present!
The background tag is cut from Sheer Joy 700 and the edges are inked with Mango Mai Tai PowderPuff Chalking Ink.  I am sure you recognize those fabulous graphic circles from Dream Big collection!

I backed the largest circle with a black doily and then placed the sentiment, which came from the Sheer Joy Diecut Sticker sheet, in the center on pop dots to give it some dimension.

I colored the stamped image with PowderPuff  Chalking Inks.  I used Blue Moon for her dress and Feather Gray for her hair - so she would look like me!

The strip journaling on the tag is cut from the Serendipity Words and Phrases Strip.  I inked the edges with Midnight Confessions.
I added a few bits and pieces from my stash to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie
