Scrapping my Silly Little Monkey!

Today I am sharing a layout I created for Love My Tapes featuring  Want2Scrap bling and the Silly Monkey collection from Pretty Little Studio.  These are a couple of favorite pictures of my son playing on a playground years ago - and he was a silly little monkey!

The Turquiose Chevron washi tape I used on this layout can be found in the Love My Tapes Etsy store.

I pulled the turquoise color from the arrows I found on this journaling card from Pretty Little Studio.  I added a strip of the Turquiose Chevron washi tape and coordinating bling from Want2Scrap.
I will also confess at this time that I kind of have a "thing" for arrows so I loved the opportunity to pull them in as a design element!  I die cut and embossed several different style arrows and sprinkled them around the layout.

I used another strip of the washi tape along the right side of the layout, peeking out from under the photo of my son climbing the slide.

I love all the little details on this page!  The little monkey at the top of the page was actually trimmed off of some packaging from one of the Pretty Little Studio elements I used.  The word "funny" was from the Silly Frances Phrase Strips. I matted it with the same brown cardstock I used to die cut the Instagram Words "life Moments."

Underneath the picture I added another arrow (*yay*), more bling, a piece of Basic Grey flair, and a word tag from Pretty Little Studio.

I also used bookmarks from Pretty Little Studio to create a base for the photos and to provide a spot for journaling.

I used another one of the word phrases in my journaling.  I highlighted the words by centering them on color washed blocks which I then outlined with black pen.  AND I found another place for an arrow!  :)

One last piece of washi peeks out at the bottom of the page.

Cards are a Snap with Snapshot Stickers from Paper House!

One of my absolute favorite products from Paper House has got to be the adorable Snapshots™ stickers.  There are 18 different designs to compliment many themes including sports, pets nature, travel and romance!  I went through my stash of stamps and found sentiments that I thought paired up pretty well with some of the images and I ended up creating a whole batch of Clean And Simple cards in no time at all!

This first card uses a strip of wood grain washi tape, a stamped sentiment, and one of the Baseball Snapshot Stickers to create a super simple masculine card!

For this next set of cards I played with stencils and inks to create subtle backgrounds for the images and sentiments.  The light house sticker is from the At The Shore Snapshot Sticker set and the Mini Fence Frame stencil is from The Crafter's Workshop (TCW):

This card features one of the 8 beautiful images in the Floral Snapshot Sticker set and the Mini Pattern Leaves stencil from TCW:

I used several images from the Nature Snapshot Sticker set. This one attaches a word with a teeny, tiny paper clip.  I loved the pairing of the country road image, the Mini US Map stencil, and the sentiment.  I plan on using this as a graduation card.
Here's another card with one from the Nature set.  This time I used the Mini Abstract Leaves stencil from TCW.  I love the sentiment from a Stampendous stamp set:  Advice From a Tree!

This card was just plain fun - who doesn't love a card with a kitten on it?  Paper House also has a set of Snapshots™ stickers with dogs - very cute for all occasion cards!

For these two cards I didn't even bother using a stencil.  The background is a simple wash of a coordinating color in the center of the cardstock:

Who would have guessed that this beautiful image from the Vintage Romance Snapshot Sticker set would have been perfect for a Sympathy card?

For the last two cards I used rub ons from the Paper House Colorways collections to add the sentiment. I used a heat gun to dry the ink completely dry before I applied the rub on or it would not stick.

So I hope you are inspired to use some of the fabulous Snapshots™ stickers as focal points for your cards.  I will warn you that it is addictive!

Pretty Heart Card

Today I am sharing another all occasion card  I created with the Classique Beauty Collection from Authentique and bling from Want2Scrap.  The images and sentiments in the collection made this card quick and easy!

I used the Sleek Strip 12" Yellow Pearls from Want2Scrap to frame this sweet vintage image of a girl with a yellow rose.

I die cut, embossed and stenciled a matching yellow rose using the Daisies and Roses Shapeabilities® Die D-Lites from Spellbinders, adding a dusting of glitter to finish things off!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find sometime to play today!  Susie

Tool Time with Paper House

My father opened a cabinet making shop after he retired from the USAF.  When he left for work each morning he would say he was going to go "make sawdust."  With Father's Day coming up this weekend he is definitely on my mind.  It got me to thinking about the next generation of woodworkers and I wanted to share a layout from one of those simple Father-Daughter moments we experienced at my house this year:  power tool time!
I started the layout with this really cool background paper from Paper House. It looks like a grungy, coffee stained blueprint rolled out on a table complete with scattered screws and nails!
I played around with photo placement, creating a simple collage by overlapping the pictures and then added in the faux wood alpha stickers for the title.  Paper House has a wonderful set of Handyman 3D Stickers and they provided the perfect accents for these pictures of my daughter learning how to use a circular saw.  See the "Under Construction" sticker just above the title?  I love the "pop" of red!
I used more of the 3D stickers to create a border under the pictures...
...and could not resist including the measuring tape 3D sticker above this close up of my daughter.  "Measure twice, cut once" is something my father always told me! That cute little chipboard house is from Want2Scrap.
Really a super simple layout to pull together thanks to the detailed background paper and 3D stickers from Paper House.

Classique Beauty Tri Shutter Card

Today I am happy to share a romantic tri shutter card with Black Rhinestone Baby Bling accentsfrom Want2Scrap!  I created the card using the Classique Beauty Collection from Authentique Papers and the Romantic Agenda die from Spellbinders.

The front of the card  is one of the cardstock components from the collection and I adore the sentiment it shares about what true beauty is all about!  You can see that I fussy cut border print designs and then accented them with Black Rhinestone Baby Bling.  Perfect!

I love fancy fold cards and this particular style is probably my all time favorite.  I enjoy decorating all the different surfaces.  Here you can see I used one of the life cards to create a decorative section in the middle of the card for a personal note and signature.

The stickers from the Classique Beauty Collection add wonderful visual dimension but are perfect because they fold flat!  The back panel of the card has an element that I die cut and embossed from black cardstock using the Romantic Agenda die from  Spellbinders.  The detailed lattice is so elegant!

The really cool thing about the Romantic Agenda Die is that there are 4 interchangeable insets for the oval part of the design!

Always Thinking of You Layout

In March I shared a layout I created for the Spellbinders Spring Fever Partner Blog Hop and I sent you over to the Want2Scrap blog so you would have a chance to win some fabulous prizes!  I am going to share the full tutorial here today in case somebody missed the details.

I was thrilled to receive the Tudor Rose Collection and Sentiments 7 from the Spellbinders® Shapeabilities®  collection of dies to work with:

  1. Apply green ink to the Thinking of You die before cutting and embossing on white cardstock.  (I used washi tape to keep the die from shifting!) Lightly ink edges and set aside.
  2. To create a leaf element for all of the flowers, cut and emboss Flower 6 in a lightweight green paper.  It needs to be lightweight because it is going to be manipulated and you don’t want it to crease or tear.  Distress with light brown ink and set aside.
  3. Cut and emboss Intricate Flower 2 (8) times in black cardstock and (8) times in a variety of colored cardstock and distress with light brown ink .  I used red, blue and yellow to coordinate with my floral paper. Using scissors trim out the flower center of only the colored flowers.
  4. Adhere to the center of the black flowers.  Assemble flowers by inserting green leaf element through the openings in the black die cut flowers. Embellish each flower with a piece of Want2Scrap silver rhinestone Baby Bling.
  5. Using the large Intricate Flower from the Tudor Rose Collection die set, cut and emboss black cardstock twice creating (2) small doilies.  Overlap these approximately ¼”, adhering a leaf element in the center.  Assemble the large flower with dimensional foam adhesive and add to center of black doilies.

To create the layout:
  1. Center and adhere 11.5” square of white cardstock on top of 12” black cardstock.  Create stenciled background with brown and green ink.
  2. Apply a coat of gesso to the cover of the W2S Retro Corrugated Album.  Center on page on top of 5.5” x7.5” floral paper.
  3.  Add 5”x7” green designer paper on top.  Add burlap ribbon and washi tape and photo.
  4. Add 3” section of chipboard fence on top of burlap on the right side of photo.  Add small flowers and sentiment.
  5. Add large flower assemblage to left of photo.  Add strip journaling.
  6. Cut and emboss large banner in black cardstock.  Using the die as a stencil, add detail with chalk.  Position banner on layout and adhere Fancy Chipboard Word, Always, on top.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie
