Time for a Selfie! with Paper House

Paper House asked the Design Team to create a project featuring some of their stickers.  The most difficult part of the assignment for me was deciding which ones to use!  There are so many different styles to choose from:  Die Cut, 3D, Puffy, Canvas, Cork'd, Chipoxy, and plain old Cardstock! I have been itching to do some more scrapbooking from our vacation this summer.  I took a look at the pictures from our Duck Boat ride in Seattle and my choice became obvious:  Time for a Selfie 3D Stickers!

I used papers from the Family Vacation Collection and mixed in some washi tape from my stash!
Doesn't it seem like absolutely everbody takes selfies these days?! Perfect sticker right here - and it shows off the bright colors, glitter accents and eye-catching icons that make these 3D stickers so adorable!
I love this camera from the sticker pack - the tiny heart and the glitter details just make me smile!  I also want to point out that I used a craft knife to cut along the edges of the arrows on this tag so that I could layer it over the photo.
This sticker pack has some cute arrows.  Take a look at the lime arrows at the top of this pic - I actually "unlayered" one of the 3D stickers and created 2 separate elements!  Also, be sure to check out the small circle sticker at the bottom - a polaroid icon with a shimmery heart in the center.  So cute!
The "Capture the Moment" sticker has glitter AND varnish elements for a lot of *WOW* factor!
Paper House has a huge selection of stickers to choose from - something for just about every theme or occasion.  Check them out for your next project!

November Leaves

As November leaves us I wanted to share one more fall layout.  I needed to scrap these great pics of my mom, sister and I enjoying the autumn leaves.  I used the Nestled Collection from Authentique Papers.  I love all the texture found in the patterned paper - wood grains and knits and plaids - and Want2Scrap had the perfect Chipboard and Bling accents!
November is a Fancy Chipboard Word from Want2Scrap.  It is really easy to alter the chipboard with inks, paint, glitter and embossing powder, which is what I chose for this project.  I heat embossed it with Earthtone Nutmeg Embossing Powder.
You can see I used multiple layers to create dimension - papers, tags, twine, stickers, bling and even a charm!
Want2Scrap 72 Count Bling comes in a pack with 3 different sizes - 3mm, 6mm and 8mm.  I used all 3 sizes of the Amber bling to jazz up this sentiment/quote card:

Be Grateful!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I am sharing a layout I created using the Nestled Collection from Authentique Paper.  I really loved the sentiment printed on one of the cut apart cards:
"It is not happy people who are thankful.  It is thankful people who are happy."

The collection has a great assortment of patterned papers that work together to create a really casual, comfortable feel. The colors were perfect for these pictures of my son in his blue jeans!  I had a lot of fun creating layers and dimension with papers, stickers and tags.

I added even more dimension with a Chipboard Fence from Want2Scrap.  To create an aged look, I dry-brushed the chipboard with gesso and then distressed it with inks.
Finally, I added a piece of the Swirls Finesse bling in the lower right, tucking it under the little pumpkin sticker!

My Little Seamstress

Today I am sharing a layout I created using some new sewing themed dies designed by Eileen Hull for Sizzix.  I love using dies to create custom embellishments for my layouts!  It is one way to make sure that my pages are just a little bit different!   I paired the die cuts with the Sew Lovely Collection from Carta Bella - perfect for My Little Seamstress!
I used the Flower and Leaf Stitchlits to create this little bouquet!  The Thinlits dies cut through paper, fabric, foam, leather, denim, canvas and felt!  I used multiple colors of felt for the flowers and leaves and used a green canvas for the stems.
If you take a close look you can see that two of the stems are pierced.  This die system allows you the option of cutting solid or pierced elements - stems, flowers or leaves - so that if you wanted to add a little stitching detail it is super easy!

For the background,  I tore a piece of paper off of a real sewing pattern I was done with and adhered it along the left side.  On top of that I layered a strip of washi that looks like a mearsuring tape and some pieces cut from the Border Strips page.  I sprinkled stickers from the Element Stickers sheet and more felt flowers around the layout.
My favorite element on the page has to be the die cut Embroidery Hoop!  I covered mat  board with wood grain paper before I cut it out.  In the center, I used the Handmade Label die to cut the words from green and pink cardstock.  I used the same die set to emboss cream cardstock then layered the letters on top.  Finally I hand colored the heart in the center and added pen stitching.

Sweet Birthday Girl!

Time really does fly!  My baby girl celebrated her 18th birthday yesterday!  She has grown into a generous, intelligent, loving, SWEET young lady and I could not be prouder of her!  This picture is a favorite that I snapped at our annual trip to the local pumpkin patch.  It captures her spirit so well I felt it deserved its own layout!  I used the Nestled Collection from Authentique Papers, Prima flowers, and Want2Scrap Chipboard and Bling!

The photo is a standard 4x6 and I printed it with a white border.  I created a layered  background for the picture using doilies, paper and burlap.   I adhered the word "Sweet" directly onto the photo.  Although it is really easy to alter the Fancy Chipboard Words from Want2Scrap with inks, paints, glitter, and embossing powders I decided to just leave it "naked" for this layout!
You can see that I crumpled, distressed and inked the paper behind the photo.  I created an embellishment cluster using flowers, stickers and Swirls Finesse Le Creme Pearls from Want2Scrap then tucked a tag in the back for hidden journaling.
Just peeking out from behind the flowers you can see the Chipboard Embellishment that I altered using green ink:
The Swirls Finesse Le Creme Pearls come in a 2 pack so I always snip them apart and place them around the layout.  Here you can see more pearl bling peeking out from the bottom of the embellishment cluster.

Christmas Morning with Paper House!

I know we are still a couple of weeks away from Thanksgiving  but I couldn't resist playing with the new Christmas Cheer Collection from Paper House.  The pictures I used for this layout are from Christmas 2003.  That was the first time I used my pre-decorated stacking box sets and saved myself HOURS of wrapping!  They have become an annual tradition, each child having their own set of boxes that stack to create a 6 foot tower!  I love the pics of them leaning on their stacks!  The top box  always contains a Christmas tree ornament.  The best part?  The kids have all learned to consolidate the boxes as they open their gifts so that there is no wrapping paper mess to clean up!

This layout is quick and easy!  I trimmed out the “Happy Holidays” card from the Tags paper and matted it with white cardstock.  I added a photo and one of the Puffy Reindeer Stickers.
I decorated the row of Christmas trees across the top of the page with red rhinestones.
I arranged 6 pics around the central photo and added another reindeer sticker.
This tiny tree was also trimmed out of the Tag sheet.  I topped it with a red rhinestone and added a final puffy reindeer sticker.
You can check out the entire Christmas Cheer collection at the original Sneak Peek blog post HERE.

Counting My Fall Blessings!

October is over but I still have  pictures to scrap! Part of our annual tradition is a trip to the local pumpkin patch.  For this layout I used the Fall Blessings Collection from Carta Bella.  I love the unexpected addition of the aqua and teal to more traditional fall colors.
The small scale patterns of these papers create a wonderful background.
This camera and banner element was trimmed out of a 4x6 journaling card and adhered with dimensional foam.
I distressed and inked the edges of the 3x4 journaling card.  The collection includes a sticker sheet with an alpha and a wonderful collection of elements.

Hocus Pocus Halloween!

Halloween may be over but I still have one more layout to share!

Today I am working with one 4x6 horizontal photo - probably the most common format.

I worked with the Hocus Pocus Collection from Echo Park for this page.  To start with, I created a background with a combination of paper and washi tape.  The skull and crossbones tape is from my stash.  The tiny black and white stripe tape is from Little B and is only 3mm wide!  The combination provides a nice border at the top and bottom of the page.  The paper collection has a sticker sheet with an alpha and several die cut elements.  I used foam tape to pop up one of the labels on top of my border.
I added another die cut sticker under the photo then decided to create a die cut element of my own! I used the Labels die set from Little B to cut and pierce the witch.  I removed the cutting die and used the  piercing die to lightly stencil along the inner edge.  I used a much heavier application of ink along the outer edge.
Little B has a die set that cuts a variety of Halloween Phrases.  I used one of the dies to cut the title out of black cardstock, then underlined it with another strip of the 3mm washi tape.

I used Glossy Accents to add dimension to a couple of elements on the page. The spider web in the center of the flower above, the bottle of ghost tears...

...and  in the center of this pretty frame, which I also embellished with Want2Scrap bling!

The banner in the upper right comes straight off the sticker sheet!  I added Black Rhinestone Baby Bling from Want2Scrap at the junction of each pennant.
