Elegant Card with Love My Tapes Washi Tape

Today I am sharing an all occasion card I created for Love My Tapes.  It features an elegant black & white color scheme and a sentiment that I have come to embrace in my everyday life.

The washi tape that I used on this card may be found in the Love My Tapes Etsy store.
Wide Black and White Music Note Butterfly washi tape
I started by covering white cardstock with strips of the washi tape.
I cut it to size and rounded the corners before adding a crisp white doily.

The sentiment is from a set of clear stamps from Kaisercraft, which I stamped and heat embossed with black embossing powder.

I trimmed out the sentiment, inked the edges and adhered it to the front of the card using foam tape adhesive to pop up the word "and" for a little dimension.  Finally I adhered the finished panel onto a black card and rounded the corners of it as well!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play (with washi tape) today!

Makin' Waves with Paper House Summer Blog Hop

Today I am joining in on the Paper House Summer Blog Hop!

I love the Endless Summer Paper Pad from Paper House!  It has 24 double sided pages that are a nice mix of photos and graphic art.  As I flipped through the pad I chose this paper for the background because the color was a good match for the photos I wanted to scrap.  The Gulf of Mexico definitely had a greenish hue that day and the grey-blue of the sky was echoed in the artwork on the paper.
The first thing I did was to use a craft knife to fussy cut around the wave and banner in the lower left corner so I could slip a matted photo underneath.  I also created an embellishment cluster on top of the artwork using a Diecut sticker, a Cork sticker and a Snapshot sticker.

I created another embellishment cluster next to this photo by layering (2) stickers from the Nautical Stickers and adding a shorebird from the At The Shore Snapshot Sticker Pack.

I “popped” up this sign from the Serene Beach Diecut Sticker Pack to add a little dimension to the layout.  The cork starfish also brings in some texture.

The finishing touch was this Snapshot sticker with the sand dollar image.  I love the little word tag clipped onto the corner!

Swim Team Fun with Paper House

Swim Team is one of our annual summer traditions.  This layout was fast and easy because Paper House has plenty of stickers and papers to capture all the fun!

On the left side of the layout, I used the Emerald Mosaic Paper from the new ColorWays release. It looks exactly like the tile you have seen in any number of swimming pools, and it was the perfect match for my daughter’s team suit! The Swim Team 3D Sticker pack is filled with a great assortment of accents for this sport, like these three swim stroke titles:
.
Under the stroke stickers you can see a couple of strips of washi from Love My Tapes.  The vintage watch tape is so appropriate for a swim meet because the swimmers are racing the clock!  I also included my daughter's swim team medal and ribbon.  I love incorporating real ephemera in my layouts!

In the title area, I created a small embellishment cluster using the 3D Stickers and added some Want2Scrap bling that reminds me of splashing water!

On the right side of the layout, I created a little collage. I just played around with the placement of the photos and the 3D Stickers until I was happy with the arrangement. I added the word "fun" from the Paper House Explore Puffy Sticker pack and slipped in a couple more strips of washi!

I love the new Rub-On Transfers from Paper House and added the “here we go” sentiment so that it overlapped one of my photos. I also included an arrow Rub-On to point out my daughter swimming backstroke. I decided the black didn’t show up well enough against the background. No problem! I pulled out my white gel pen and colored over it!

In Control with Want2Scrap Overlay

Today I am sharing a layout I created using pictures of one of my grand-nephews (?) having fun with an RC car last summer.  I had some wonderful images of that day and it was so easy to just pop them into this laser cut overlay from Want2Scrap!

One of my favorite things about using an overlay is that I don't have to worry about creating a title - it's already there!

I accented the Remote Control element with some Shiny Chrome Dots...

...and added some fun washi tape - the arrows remind me of how the little blue truck careened around that day!

I used my Dymo label maker to add a bit of journaling...

...and other particulars!

The cute Puffy Car stickers are from Paper House.

I thought they were perfect for this page!

In April I shared this layout of his brother taking his turn with the RC Car.  You can see all the details HERE.

Volleyball Layout

Today I am sharing a layout I created for Love My Tapes featuring volleyball paper and stickers from Paper House.

The tapes I used in this project may be found in the Love My Tapes Etsy store:
Red and White washi, Camera washi, Black and White Stripe washi
This is basically a monochromatic layout except for the "pops" of red on some of the sticker embellishments that match my daughter's jersey. The background paper, volleyball quote and the silhouette figures are all from Paper House.  The filmstrip is also from Paper House and is cut out of the Noir Trimmings 12" Scrapbook  Paper.

I used the Red and White washi to add a bold stripe of color on the left side of the layout.  Do you see the piece of Camera washi I added on the other side of the film strip element?

Another piece of Red and White washi visually lifts the silhouette sticker off of the background:

I used the Black and White Stripe washi in two places on the layout.  Here it creates a strong horizontal line under the picture and out to this silhouetted figure:

I also used it as a a ribbon on the journaling tag I have tucked behind the photo.
The strip of black and white hearts is cut out of the Noir Edgings 12" Scrapbook Paper from Paper House.  I dotted each of those hearts with a piece of  Red Rhinestone Baby Bling from Want2Scrap.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!

US Air Force Layout

Today I am sharing a layout with a patriotic feel - just in time for the 4th of July!  I used the Freedom Collection from Authentic Papers and Want2Scrap bling to create a layout celebrating my father's service in the US Air Force.

One of the papers in the collection is a cut apart of these really cool vintage cards.  I rounded the corners and created a collage in the center of the page.

I love to add bling to my layouts but I also wanted to preserve the shabby vintage feel so I used a very light hand...
...just adding a tiny 3mm piece of red or blue self adhesive rhinestone...
...in a few places to accent the graphics.  The 72 Count packs of bling from Want2Scrap have 8mm, 6mm and 3mm gems.  I used the smallest size on today's layout.
Only the background paper is a full sized 12" page from the Freedom Collection.  The rest of the papers I used came from a 6"x6" paper pad.  The paper pad had a really cool "bonus" tag printed on the inside of the cover.  I trimmed it out and included it along with some stickers from the collection.

I chose some coordinating cardstock and die cut USAF and my father's name and added them to the layout along with some fun little bits of washi tape with red stars.  I still need to add the date on the bottom sticker because I am not sure when this photo was taken.
Finally I added a tag behind my dad's picture for some hidden journaling.  I created a paper ribbon by trimming out a strip from another 12" page in the collection.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie
