Timeless Love layout with Quick Quotes

Today and I would like to share a mixed media layout I created featuring the new Windsong Paper Pack from Quick Quotes!  The papers in the collection have very subtle colors and patterns.  I used coordinating colors of PowderPuff Chalking Ink to add some extra patterns to my project!

I was recently looking at pictures of my parents from the early years of their marriage and decided I had to scrap them.  February, being the month of love, provided the perfect opportunity!

I used Windsong105 as my background and started to stencil with Peach Tree and Latte PowderPuff Chalking Inks.  I also used Antique Linen, Warm Sand, and Sunset.

You can see some of the stencil work I did around the title.  The hearts were die cut from papers in the Earth Wind Fire Collection.

Here I applied modeling paste through the stencil.  After it dried, I replaced the stencil and blended some inks on top.  The tags that I tucked behind the pictures also got some attention - stenciling, embossing, and inking!

One of the fun things about doing a mixed media layout are all of the layers!  Ink, modeling paste, cheesecloth, chipboard, and corrugated cardboard are all in place before I even add the pictures!

I die cut a photo frame out of cardboard and used Barn Board to accent the heart, which I taped in place on the backside.  I cut the frame out again using Windsong 103 but this time I removed the heart...

...and let the Barn Board accent show through.  I repeated the process with the smaller frame and then hand stamped the names and details.

I am playing along with this month's Quick Quotes Challenge:  "Hearts! Any Kind of Hearts of Heart!"  It is not too late to join in!  You can find all the details HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

CAS card for Dog Lovers!

Are you a dog lover?  Do you have paw prints on your heart?  If so, then this CAS (Clean And Simple) card I created for Want2Scrap is for you!

I started by stamping and heat embossing the sentiment in black ink.  Then I added a wash of blue to create a bit of a background.

I love Want2Scrap chipboard!  I often use it just bare naked because I love that look, but there are so many ways to dress it up!  Today I decided to use embossing powder.  I chose one of the elements from the card sized Houses by Nina Brackett pack.

I wanted to make the house 2-toned, so I masked off the roof part with a piece of paper and inked the bottom half.  I added embossing powder and applied heat to set.

Then I reversed it and masked off the bottom and embossed the roof using a different color.  Such a cute little house, right?

But not cute enough!  I stamped a tiny little sentiment on the roof and heat embossed it.  It turned out really cool as it kind of melted into the previous heat embossing but still kept a little dimension.  Next I dug a tiny little wooden dog chippie out of my stash and heat embossed him in black.

I adhered them to the front of the card and then decided to snazz up the roof line with a bit of bling from the Sleek Strip Rhinestones in black...

...and added a few bits of washi tape - voila!

Be sure to stop by Want2Scrap and check out the store for all the new designs of chipboard that we have added!

Heart Cards with Quick Quotes

Today and I am sharing some heart themed cards featuring the Earth Wind Fire Collection from Quick Quotes.

I started by die cutting several hearts in 3 sizes, mixing the paper patterns and sizes.  Next I inked the edges of those hearts with Powderpuff Chalking Inks, stacked the hearts on top of each other and set them aside.

For the first card, I centered a heart shaped mask on top of a panel of patterned paper.  I marked the  center of the heart with a dot and pulled out the Barn Board ink.

Using the dot as the starting point, I dragged the ink pad across the die cut and out to the edges of the panel. I removed the heart shaped mask, centered a stack of die cut hearts inside the masked area and then added a cranberry pearl on top!

This may suprise you, but I intend to use this as a sympathy card.  I found the perfect vellum quote
and ran it through my Xyron to create a sticker.  I adhered it to patterned paper and inked the edges with Barn Board.

The finishing touch was a trio of self adhesive cranberry pearls in the bottom right of the card.

Now I do realize it is February so of course I had to create a valentine!  I took the remaining hearts and arranged them on the front of a  card.  I die cut a sentiment and turned it into a sticker.

I added self adhesive cranberry pearls in the center of each heart and placed the sentiment across the bottom.  Just by changing the sentiment, this card could easily be a birthday or anniversary card.

Sharing My Creative Heart

Happy Valentine's Day!

Just wanted to do a quick share!  In January I attended Creativation, the AFCI Trade Show (Association for Creative Industries).  As a Designer Member I was invited to participate in an event they called "Sharing the Creative Heart".  Basically we made art with heart and left it in the convention center as a Random Act of Kindness for attendees.  Such a fun idea - I never did discover who found my heart, but I did enjoy making it!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Eileen Hull - Design Team & ColorBox Blends Layout

Great news to share - I have officially joined the Eileen Hull Design/Inspiration Team!

Over the past couple of years I have worked with Eileen on several projects and was blessed with the opportunity to appear on her blog as a guest designer.  I am a huge fan of all of her products and am absolutely thrilled to join the talented team she has assembled.

This month the Inspiration Team is playing with Eileen's ColorBox Blends.  In fact, we are taking over the Clearsnap blog this week and I am up first!   I used her inks to create custom paper and coordinated embellishments.  I hope you will pop over for the scoop - and be sure to leave me some love!  You can find all the details HERE.    :)

Ski with Happy Hearts!

I am starting off my February sharing a ski layout sprinkled with lots of hearts and love!  I used the Winter Bliss collection from Quick Quotes for my first DesignTeam project this month.

I absolutely love creating these grid layouts!  It is like pocket pages without the pockets - each 4" square is an opportunity to play!
I started with white cardstock and created the grid with 1/8" strips cut from the solid turquoise paper in the collection.  I used different patterns from the collection to create backgrounds in 4 of the squares.

Quick Quotes also sent me some white die cut snowflakes that I actually did not use on this winter page.  Instead, I used the negative space left behind after I punched out the snowflakes! :)  I inked through the home made stencil with Caribbean Blue PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

Here's a different pattern where I varied the intensity of the ink:

I am also playing along with this month's Quick Quotes Challenge: "Hearts, Any Kind of Heart or Hearts".

I encourage you to join in the fun!  You can find all the details HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!
