Details on HOW to enter are at the bottom of this post!

My summer themed project is a layout featuring lots of pictures of some of my favorite scrapbooking friends on a sunflower photo-safari!

The background paper is one of 12 gorgeous designs in the Great Outdoors Paper Pad.  The image is of a sunlit field of flowers and it has delicate half tone borders on the upper and lower edge of the page!  I just added a collage of photos in the center of the page and started to embellish!

The white picket fence you see under several of the photos is from the Gardening Cardstock Sticker set.  The watering can is from the 3D Gardening Stickers.
The Farm Raised 3D stickers had the perfect title element because this photo safari took place on a local farm.  Can you believe it already had those sunflowers on it?  Perfect!

Of course, too much is never enough, so even though I had beautiful photos of sunflowers, I needed to add more!  Fortunately Paper House offers 3D Sunflower stickers!  The delicate rhinestone swirl you see is from Want2Scrap and is the perfect shade of brown!

To finish things off I added a couple more stickers from the Gardening 3D Sticker set:

Bling on the Beach with Want2Scrap

I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida so summer vacation meant lots of time at the beach and I have carried on that tradition with my own children.
The Lakeside Collection from Pebbles works just as well for beach layouts!  I made good use of their embellishment packs, holding the cards in place with washi tape from my stash.  I layered on some wood bits for a little dimension.

One of the best things about beach time is being able to relax and read a good book.  Here I have highlighted my son’s reading list with turquoise Nestabling:

Do you see the little heart charm I dangled off the title? It’s because he loves to read!!

And speaking of the title, yes…I used another Fancy Chipboard Word to create the title!  I love them!  It is so easy to alter them and they add such great dimension!

Summer Camp Memories with Want2Scrap

When my boys were younger July always meant summer camp!  This layout captures what is best about camp: critters, archery and fire-building!

Paper companies provide all kinds of coordinated pieces to accent their paper lines and I love to use them!  I also like to create my own embellishments to add to the mix because that is what makes my layouts just a little bit different.  For this layout I started by creating a little camera with Spellbinders Snapshot die set and some modeling paste then  I added a circle of  black rhinestone Nestabling to define the lens of the camera.  Love it!

I really cannot tell you how much I love Want2Scrap’s Fancy Chipboard Words!  They make creating titles so easy, especially since you can create your own word if you can’t find the one you need in their ever-growing inventory!!!  For this layout I painted “Discover” with coordinating teal paint than added a coat of Glossy Accents.  I love the shine and the dimension it adds:

My last little personal touch is one of Want2Scrap’s newest embellishments, a silver Aspen Tree Charm.  I snipped off the loop at the top with a pair of wire cutters and adhered it with ScorTape.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Green Thumb Gardening layout with Paper House

I am in love with the Gardening Collection from Paper House! As soon as I saw it I thought of my girlfriend, Claire, who spends a lot of her time every summer harvesting from the garden in her back yard.
To be perfectly honest, the garden is her husband's labor of love, but Claire is the one who takes all that produce and prepares and preserves it so that her family can enjoy it all year round!  The background collage paper is called "Home Grown".  The beautiful images around the edges provide the perfect frame for my collage of pictures!

The chalkboard stickers from Paper House are so cool!  I used one as the title on my page.  It already has the detailed words and scrolly vines on it.  I just added the gnome from the cardstock sticker sheet - doesn't he look perfect?

I used a white pigment pen from Signo to do the lettering on this chalkboard sticker - it never disappoints!

The cardstock stickers provide great little accents when sprinkled among the picutres.  You can see I used the hand trowel and the wheelbarrel around this photo of Claire:

I used dimensional foam to "pop up" the green thumb and the tomato stickers that accent the photos of all the canned food in the pantry:

The cute little watering can at the top of the page came from the 3D sticker set:

Doing this layout made me realize that I want to create pages about ALL of my friends.  In fact, I will be sharing a layout this weekend featuring some of my scrapping friends.  It is going to be part of a "Goodbye Summer" Blog Hop from Paper House so be sure come take a peek - I am pretty sure there will be prizes!

"Precious" Baby Frame - Quick Quotes

Hello and welcome!  I am excited to share an altered picture frame I created using the Dream Big collection from Quick Quotes.
I started by covering the front of the picture frame with the plaid paper, inking the edges with Biscotti PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

I also have a couple of quick tutorials:

  • Creating  a rosette
  • Custom coloring ribbon

Creating the Rosette:  I started by cutting a cardboard circle about 3" in diameter and coating it with a glue that dries tacky, creating a large "glue spot".  Set this aside.

I cut 2 strips of Dream Big paper, 2" x 12".  Score the strips every 1/2" and fold, creating pleats.

Join the ends of the strips with strong adhesive, creating a circle.  Gather the pleats into a cone shape...

...flatten the cone and place the cardboard with the glue spot on the back side to hold it together. Set aside.

Meanwhile, I die cut a vellum sentiment and a matching piece of white cardstock.  Ink the edges with Blue Lagoon PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

Run the vellum sentiment through the Xyron Label maker and layer on top of the cardstock.

Adhere the layered vellum sentiment to the front center of the rosette.

Custom Coloring Ribbon:  You can custom color any sheer ribbon with PowderPuff Chalking Inks!  I placed the ribbon on a non-stick craft mat and simply run the ink pad over both sides.  For this project, I chose to use Blue Lagoon.

I then used the perfectly coordinated ribbon on the photo frame!

Discover the Bahamas with Paper House & Want2Scrap

When I finally decided to scrap my pics from a trip to the Bahamas, I happily found the perfect combination of products from Paper House Productions and Want2Scrap!

My husband and I are scuba divers so when a nephew had a destination wedding in the Bahamas, we took advantage of the opportunity!  My memories of that trip feature lots of brightly colored fish swimming along beside me, so this page from Paper House Productions was an obvious starting point for a layout!

Next I added The Bahamas laser cut overlay from Want2Scrap, which has a built in title area .  I backed the whole thing with yellow cardstock and then cut out the center window.
I decided I didn't want the palm trees that are in the lower left  for this layout, so I cut them off and set them aside for future use!

I adhered the Aquarium paper behind the overlay so that the fish are positioned in the bottom right, then reached for a set of beach themed cardstock stickers from Paper House.  I used foam pop dots to add a tiny yellow fish "swimming" over the edge of the overlay.

After I created a photo collage in the center of the page, I added the chipboard word "Discover"  in the upper left...and 3 more of the little fishies!

And one more fishie overlapping the edge of a picture!

I finished things off with a grouping of stickers in the lower left.  The beach chairs/umbrella sticker is from the cardstock sticker set and the seashells  can be found in the Beach Chalkboard Sticker pack.

That's it!  Remember...Great themed products from Paper House and Want2Scrap makes it easy to create wonderful layouts from your travel destinations!

Spotlight on Toby Keith with Quick Quotes

Today I am sharing a fun layout featuring the *new* Dream Big collection from Quick Quotes.  I recently attended a Toby Keith concert and  had a few pics to scrapboook.  The starburst designs on the papers reminded me of spotlights, so I added some Want2Scrap bling and loved the result!

I used sentiment strips from the Sheer Joy 500 paper, inking the edges with Tahiti PowderPuff Chalking Ink before popping them up on foam tape.  To be a country star you gotta "Dream Big", right?
I used my Spellbinders to die cut arrows from metallic silver tape and sprinkled them around the layout, pointing out the sometimes tiny figure of Toby Keith!

I also cut some of the larger starburst designs with circle dies, emphasising the shape with lots of bling!

More die cut circles, bling and arrows!

And still MORE circles, arrows and bling!!!

Repeat Yourself! - August Challenge for Quick Quotes

Hello and welcome!  Today I am going to invite you to participate in the monthly challenge over on the Quick Quotes Blog.  You have until August 25th to link your entry - and there are prizes to be won!

The challenge for this month is to “Repeat Yourself”!  Specifically, you need to repeat a shape on your project at least 3 times.  I chose circles because it repeats the shape of the tires in my photos!   The *new* Dream Big collection from Quick Quotes features several circular designs.

I used circle dies to cut nice clean shapes and then used Midnight Confessions PowderPuff Chalking Ink to black the edge of each.

Check out how the Black Rhinestone Nestabling from Want2Scrap really emphasizes the shape!  I also used Self Adhesive Black Pearls from Want2Scrap as the center of each circle.

From my stash I added strips of washi tape in coordinating colors.  My favorite is the tire tread!

If you are interested in participating in this fun challenge follow THIS LINK for all the details.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie
