Holiday Decor with ColoriQue and U-Paint

Hello and welcome to the November Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop!  Our theme this month is Holiday Decor and we are featuring Colorbox® ColoriQue by Lisa Marie Jimenez and U-Paint Crafts.

I washed the Frames from U-Paint with mild soap and water. One option to prepare the frames for use is to prime them with a coating of matte white paint. One advantage to doing this is that you would use less of the ColoriQue, however, I really wanted to see the natural metal in my finished piece so I left the frames bare.

ColoriQue is vibrant, opaque, blendable color that cleans up easily with soap and water. It dries to the touch in less than 5 minutes, depending upon the application.  It applies easily with brushes, sponges or daubers and heat is recommended to set the color.  It works on metal, clay, ceramic, glass, leather, wood and more!  I used 3 colors for my project:  Black Diamond, Verdigris, and Avocado.

A little of this stuff goes a long way!  I placed small drops on my craft mat...

...and painted each color individually.  Verdigris was used around the scalloped edge.

I painted the oval around the opening with Diamond Black and then applied Avocado on the raised dots.   Here is a close up of the detail.

To fill my festive winter frame I used this graphic element from Authentique Paper.

The sentiment was sized perfectly for my frame so I trimmed it out and adhered it to the backside.

I needed to attach a chain to hang my frame so I reached for Bondic, a liquid plastic welder.  I created a small pool of the liquid...

...placed the jump ring in the puddle...

...and used the LED light to cure and harden the liquid. (which only takes a few seconds!)

I used Zots to adhere decorative buttons to the front of the frame.

...and then I hung my festive little sign to enjoy through the holidays and into the cold days of winter!

Colorique is available in 14 beautiful colors and U-Paint has a large selection of decorative metal components.  And did I mention that both are manufactured in the USA?!

To see more of these products in use be sure to check out the other stops in this month's hop.  You can find the master list here:  Designer Crafts Connection
