Eileen Hull Pocket Notebook Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pocket Notebook Release Party!  This is Eileen Hull's newest book die with Sizzix.  On the die you get all of the pieces you need to make an entire book: the cover, pages, latch and pen loop!

The Pocket Notebook measures 6 3/4" x 4 1/2" with a spine that can adjust from 3/8" to almost 2"!  String it with elastic, hemp, ribbon or twine.  So many options for this fun die!

My project for today is a a planner notebook and it is a bit of a hybrid because I made the cover using 2 different materials:  leather and mat board. I love the look and feel of leather but I also love the shape and structure you get from the matboard.

Time to play...

Disclosure:  I receive compensation in the form of free product and/or pay from companies and manufacturers in return for creating projects showcasing those products.  While the content of my blog is influenced by these products, my opinions regarding these products  and projects are my own.

I cut a piece of  veg tan leather for the front of the book, placing the right side of the leather against the die. Next I spritzed both sides of the leather with water before adding a word with a debossing folder. (I actually have 2 different journals going here so you see the word "adventure" in the step out photos but "here & now" is on today's project.)

I cut the back of the Pocket Notebook from mat board that I had covered on both side with designer paper. (and again I am using images from the other journal so the pictures don't actually match!)   I adhered the front to the back with leather glue.

Here is the outside of the finished Pocket Notebook. The black elastic lacing on the spine is to hold the signatures inside.

I used a piece of flair to gather all the elastic on the outside.  The flair has a pin back which makes it easy to keep the elastic closure attached when the notebook is open!

I created the focal image on the front with a stamp from Blank Page Muse and Sculpey clay (and I will share a tutorial on that tomorrow) and adhered it to the front of the journal with 1/4" Supertape.

Here's a quick peek at the inside.  I found this weekly planner at the Dollar Tree.  Fits perfectly!

I also found a monthly planner that covers 2 years.  I replaced the cover with paper that coordinates with the inside of the book.

I still have room for one more signature  (see the unused elastic in the spine in the photo below?).  I will definitely be taking advantage of the fact that I can use the same die to cut pages.  I need someplace to write notes and reminders!

So this little gem is going to be my planning bible - compact size and shape means it will easily fit in my purse!

Eileen’s Inspiration and Educator teams have combined to share their amazing Pocket Notebook ideas. Please follow the Blog Hop to see all of the fabulous projects, techniques and videos!

There are also two GIVEAWAYS- the Pocket Notebook die and a gift certificate for Eileen’s Etsy store. To enter to win, leave a comment on each of the posts. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 8 on Eileen’s Facebook Live show.
