Holiday Pillow Party 2019

Welcome to the 2019 Holiday Pillow Party sponsored by Fairfield World!

25 different creative bloggers have crafted a wide variety of holiday themed pillows using 20" inserts from Fairfield World!  There is something for everyone so prepare to be inspired!

I share a link at the end of this post so you can get the details on all of the different designs AND there's a

Thank you to our hostesses, Laura of  Laura Kelly Designs and Alexandra of  The Hedgehog Hollow, for letting me play along!
As a papercrafter, die-cutting is one of my favorite techniques so I chose to use my dies to cut cotton fabric for this project.  I used the well known sentiment
"All hearts come home for Christmas!"
as my inspiration and created this pillow as a gift for a very dear friend!
Disclosure:  I receive compensation in the form of free product and/or pay from companies and manufacturers in return for creating projects showcasing those products.  While the content of my blog is influenced by these products, my opinions regarding these products and projects are my own.

I chose to incorporate non-traditional aquas and teals because those are favorites of my girlfriend and I wanted the pillow to fit into her decor!

I started by die cutting paper shapes and laying them out on my fabric to work out the design.

I actually raided a friend's stash (thanks again Claire!) and picked out some fun cotton fabrics.  Following the manufacturer's directions I ironed the Wonder Under onto the wrong side of the fabric and then die cut all the shapes I needed.

I positioned the die cuts according to my plan and used an iron and a damp press cloth...

... to fuse them to the background fabric.

Some of the elements required layering.

Time to add the ribbon!

I had lightly penciled in my grid lines...

...and used Fabri-tac to adhere the ribbon in place.  It dried very quickly so I worked in about 6" segments, laying down a thin bead of the glue and then laying the ribbon down on top.

Once the decorating was done, I stitched up the side seams to the pillow and reached for the Premier Ultra Plush Pillow insert.  One really nice feature of these inserts is that they are zippered for easy washing and customization.

I  chose to remove a little of the poly-fil fiber because my pillow cover ended up being a 19" square and I thought the 20" insert made it look a bit overstuffed.

What do you think?  Perfect, right?!

As promised, you can get the details on all of the pillows
