Crafting with Stamps from Maker's Movement

Welcome to the July Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop!  This month we are partnering with Maker's Movement and I had a chance to create with one of their brand new stamp sets.

Disclosure:  I receive compensation in the form of free product and/or pay from companies and manufacturers in return for creating projects showcasing those products.  While the content of my blog is influenced by these products, my opinions regarding these products and projects are my own.

Maker's Movement is an online paper crafting and jewelry making supply store that was created to inspire and help anyone become a maker, creator or artist! For the entire month of July they are running a Buy 2 Get 1 Free Sale, so this is a really great time to check out the website - just click the link below!

There is just something about maps that I love.  I find them interesting and inspiring so I chose to work with the new Wish You Were Here Stamp Set

I started by creating a side folding card with watercolor paper and clear acetate.  The watercolor panel was inked with a colorwash and then stamped with sentiments and a heart from the stamp set. The acetate was 1/2" larger than the paper.  I scored, folded and adhered a 1/2" flap to the back of the watercolor paper to create a clear cover.

I also heat embossed the sentiments and heart using clear embossing powder.

Next I stamped the map image from the set on another piece of watercolor paper using permanent black ink.  I actually stamped it twice, flipping it and carefully aligning the straight edge of the map.

I colored the image with shades of green before cutting it out and adhering it to the right edge of the clear acetate cover.  (I trimmed it and positioned it so that the sentiment I had stamped in the upper left of the inside panel was visible.) I stamped the you are here icon on the map before adding a rhinestone, alpha stickers and little wooden potty people from my stash.

I stamped another sentiment (Thinking of you) on a strip of paper and inked the edges before adding a die cut arrow with more alpha stickers to the front of the card.

So the card  reads, "Wish you were here with me. Thinking of you and..."

...sending you love."

I created a couple more projects with this versatile stamp set that I will share soon but in the meantime I hope you will check out the other stops along the blog hop.  There are lots more stamp and die sets to be revealed!
